Well
Wishes
Buckshot Elliott made a trip to the hospital due to a tiny piece
of finger that was unknowingly stuck in his hand. His finger tripled in size. Hopefully
the pain has gone and Buckshot is feeling better. Incidentally, Buckshot’s
nurse in the hospital was named Diana Harris…..small world.
Member Machines and
Gossip
Thanks to Charlie Ball, Charlie
Thomas and Mike Smith for the following.
We “Hurd”
that Norman is highly recommending door handles be removed from all street rods
and replaced with electric door poppers, see Norman for details.
Tony and Eileen Coltharp, Les and Pam Lawson, Charlie Thomas and Jeanie,
Dick Cartwright and Susie, Bill Hurd and Lisa,
Maynard and Joyce Ketron, Bruce Roberts, Perry
Stapleton, Charlie Ball, and Jerry Collins attended the Annual Moonshine Run in
Newport on weekend of June 15-16. Maynard only lucky one in the crowd, he won a
set of jack stands. Sorry if I missed anyone.
Dick Cartwright has his
VW project on the road finally. He’s added accessory luggage rack for long
trips!
On Saturday, June
23, several KARC members made the trip to Pineville Kentucky for the Bell
County Car Show, hosted by our friend Bill Partain.
In attendance were Frank Carr, Buckshot Elliott, Daris
Hartsock, Don Hughes, Bill Hurd,
Jack Johnson, Maynard Ketron, Les Lawson, Bruce
Roberts, Mike Smith, Harry Soard, Perry Stapleton,
Gerald Walters, and Mark Warner. Several won $25 Wal
Mart gift cards, and a few won $50 drawings. Saw some unusual vehicles at the
show including a Mack Truck pickup and a Toyota MR2 converted into a 3 wheeler.
On the way back, most of us stopped at the Hob Nob Drive-In for early supper or
ice cream. Perry announced at the show that he is cutting back on sweets
(while eating cotton candy), so he only ate one banana split.
Several member stopped by the cabin to wish Rayford
and Jan Dingus a happy 25th anniversary.
Lifetime
Members
In the May
meeting, Dewayne Bowen, Rayford Dingus and Sid Vicars
were presented Lifetime Member plaques. Apologies for the
following picture not making the June newsletter.
Fall
Cruise to Wheels Through Time
At last month’s meeting, several
members indicated they would be interested in club cruise over to Maggie Valley
to Wheels Through Time Museum. I (Gary Price)
contacted Wheels Through Time and determined the museum will be open every
Saturday in October and there are no bike shows planned at the Maggie Valley
show grounds on the 20th or 27th. Please discuss if
either of those dates would be good, or if another date would be more
preferable. I will call back to see if Dale or his son will be there to help
guide the tour.
