Member Gossip and News

Thanks to Dick Cartwright and Tim Hammond for the pics and comments.

David Davis has installed a carbureted LS engine in his 64 Chevy II, after way too much trouble with a hydraulic clutch David is driving the car and reports it runs "like a 327".

Sid Vicars is still supervising the repairs of the damage caused by his recent flood. House, garage, tools and supplies were damaged or ruined. His faithful '41 is high and dry in Muddy Creek.

Perry Stapleton's '67 Chevy II is nearing completion thanks to lots of hard work by Perry, Bruce Roberts, Mikel Smith and all the gang at Mikel's Bailey Ranch Butcher shop. Problems encountered included a "fresh rebuilt" transmission that didn't work and a "new" front bumper that has seen some major crash damage. As of the most recent report they are still waiting for Perry to deliver the seats, and some trim panels that were abducted by aliens (we never misplace parts).  Editor’s note: Apologies to Perry. Dick sent me a picture of the car, but I somehow managed to lose it.

Bill Pettis is now enjoying his really neat '32 Ford sedan. It is truly old school featuring oxide primer, a flathead, tuck and roll interior and a perfect stance.

Dick Cartwright's '55 Chevrolet has had several problems corrected with the help of Sid Vicars and Charlie Ball. Problems were caused by defective parts, being in a hurry to finish and gnomes, (how else do you explain a power window that worked for two years coming unplugged inside the door?).

Mikel Smith has installed a Holley Sniper fuel injection system on his Suburban, Mikel says it was easy to install and really made the 383 come alive. Mike has installed a couple more for other people. The only problem Mikel has encountered is the same one Dick Cartwright had with his '55, they won’t run without gasoline. Gary Price was on the fence about Sniper EFI, but, after talking to Mike decided to take the plunge and is in process of gathering miscellaneous materials to install.

Gary Whittington has the 5.0L in his ’65 Mustang now and has chatted with Mikel about putting A/C in his ’69 Mustang.

Tim Hammond took advantage of recent great weather to clean out his garage. Tim says a leaf blower is the trick. Anything that ain’t nailed down just gets blown on out the door. He uncovered a nice old Ford pickup while cleaning up. Looking good Tim.
